Gov Christie Signs New Gambling Law for Hand Held Devices

Atlantic City Gambling on Mobile PhonesAtlantic City, NJ – The casinos in Atlantic City will be able to offer customers mobile devices on which to gamble under new legislation signed by Gov. Chris Christie on Wednesday August 8, 2012, but, there are several additional steps that will need to take place.

The new NJ law, makes it legal for casino customers to gamble on casino-issued mobile device while they are anywhere inside the borders of that casino, areas of use include the pool area, spa, restaurants or in their hotel rooms.

For example prior to the new law taking effect, the DGE or Division of Gaming Enforcement must prepare and put in place specific regulations governing mobile device and gambling on them. This can take a few months to implement.

This law is also the first step in the overall goal of legalizing Sports Betting, maybe via hand held devices or legalizing Internet Gaming with hosted services within the local Atlantic City Casinos.

All in all, the first step on their way to a grand slam is complete and next steps will follow, thanks Gov Christie for supporting these efforts.  Stay tuned for more information on this topic and developments arise.
